Because we all need new music from time to time. Click on the pictures to listen to the new music I accidentally came across. Very funky, very suave, very happy.

What a man, what a charm!!! I do not know why but Mexican men from the 60's and 70s had a really great gentleman-like appeal to them!
This song has quickly become one of my favorites you guys. It is called "El Rio" by Miguel Rios and it is such a pity that I hadn't listened to it years ago! Miguel Rios has been a very well known artist for decades now. The video was probably filmed late 60s, which makes it even more endearing. I found this video while listening to "She's my man" by Bigott, which is another great song by the way, I really recommend you checking it out. I noticed in the comment section of the video that Bigott had paid some sort of tribute to this song and voila...this song came up. I love the fact that it has such a retro feel to it, but it is also something we would hear nowadays in the indie genre.
In Lak’ech Ala K’in. This is a Mayan greeting meaning “I am you and you are me.” I came across this amazing greeting through a facebook friend who is a great artist, you can look at his artwork here, I HIGHLY recommend it…my favorite pieces of work are his Frida Kahlo paintings.
I became attracted to the phrase, In Lak’ech Ala K’in, immediately after he posted it because it refers to the fact that ALL living things are interconnected, that whatever we do will affect the world around us and, in effect, ourselves. This phrase teaches us to open our hearts and give the best we can to the world but give it in a truthful and sincere manner. When we give the best of ourselves to the universe we receive in return only the best. I like this phrase because I really do believe that we are connected to the earth we walk on, the air we breath, birds, life, etc…and by having a positive energy radiating from us, we embellish what is around us…and in return we embellish ourselves in the most beautiful of ways. In Lak’ech Ala K’in encourages us to have a positive attitude towards life and be grateful to be able to be here...surrounded by the things we love most. Because I am you and you are me we are able to experience love, friendship, hardship, success, struggle, and happiness. Exactly because I am you and you are me let’s love life together, protect it, and cherish it. In Lak’ech Ala K’in.

"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swaps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in the lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists...it is real...it is possible...it's yours."
-Ayn Rand

Sometimes when we're sad, or happy, or maybe not feeling nothing at all we turn to music to brighten up our spirits and give us an escape from the here and now. I've always believed that music is a good way to get away from it all because, in reality, they're just like poems and literature. When one is looking for consolation for a broken heart, inspiration, or just something good to read one might read Shakespeare or Pablo Neruda. Lyrics are the exact same thing! Whenever I want a little something to relate to I find myself going back to Adele's lyrics, or The XX's and, of course, carla Morrison's. All of their lyrics are melodious poems written from the author's heart to express something that can't be said directly and without music. Here's one of my favorite songs, a song that I liked as soon as I heard it but when I carefully analyzed the lyrics I learned to love every aspect of its composition.

When Soul Meets Body
by Death Cab For Cutie

I want to live where soul meets body
And let the sun wrap its arms around me
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing
And feel, feel what its like to be new

Cause in my head there's a greyhound station
Where I send my thoughts to far off destinations
So they may have a chance of finding a place
where they're far more suited than here

I cannot guess what we'll discover
Between the dirt with our palms cut like shovels
But I know our filthy hand can wash one another's
And not one speck will remain

I do believe it's true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
If the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes I hold you near
Cause you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere

Where soul meets body
Where soul meets body
Where soul meets body

I do believe it's true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
If the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes I hold you near
Cause you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere

I most recently came across this video on one of my favorite blogs called Club Fonograma in which they highlight some of THE best music out there and what do you know...they shared this video with all of us music lovers. This is the kind of thing that fills me up with extreme happiness because not only is the music fantastic but it was shot in my hometown of Mexico City. I can't tell you how much I miss my beautiful city, I haven't visited in about eight years which makes me very sad when something as amazing as this comes out because I wish I could visit often..I miss it way too much! But anyhow, enough sad thoughts and let's surround ourselves with the great and cheerful vibes radiating from this video!
