In Lak’ech Ala K’in. This is a Mayan greeting meaning “I am you and you are me.” I came across this amazing greeting through a facebook friend who is a great artist, you can look at his artwork here, I HIGHLY recommend it…my favorite pieces of work are his Frida Kahlo paintings.
I became attracted to the phrase, In Lak’ech Ala K’in, immediately after he posted it because it refers to the fact that ALL living things are interconnected, that whatever we do will affect the world around us and, in effect, ourselves. This phrase teaches us to open our hearts and give the best we can to the world but give it in a truthful and sincere manner. When we give the best of ourselves to the universe we receive in return only the best. I like this phrase because I really do believe that we are connected to the earth we walk on, the air we breath, birds, life, etc…and by having a positive energy radiating from us, we embellish what is around us…and in return we embellish ourselves in the most beautiful of ways. In Lak’ech Ala K’in encourages us to have a positive attitude towards life and be grateful to be able to be here...surrounded by the things we love most. Because I am you and you are me we are able to experience love, friendship, hardship, success, struggle, and happiness. Exactly because I am you and you are me let’s love life together, protect it, and cherish it. In Lak’ech Ala K’in.
